Individual Adult and Couples' Counseling
Claire Hesse specializes in counseling adults and does not see children for therapy. Our counseling relationship will be voluntary. Most individual clients participate in counseling to enhance their personal growth or adjustment to life crises. The cognitive‑behavioral approach is used to focus on the behavior which caused the client to experience distress or make unproductive choices. Long‑term personality re‑structuring is not a goal of this approach. The purposes and goals of counseling differ with each individual client, but will generally be to identify the personal issues which led to distress-causing behaviors, plan changes in faulty thinking and behaviors, and provide support in implementing those plans.
Marriage and family issues are approached from a family systems perspective. Clients must make their own decisions regarding such issues as marriage, divorce, reconciliation, and raising children. A counselor does not advise you to make a specific decision, but will help you think through your options and their consequences.
Mrs. Hesse's fee for service is $100 per hour for individual or couples' therapy clients. Some Aetna and Blue Cross insurance plans are accepted.
